I was in the mood for cheesecake for about 2 weeks now and was going to bake one but decided to try it at RT instead. Ok - it was 4.99 (i think) but it was yummy and "enough" (i didn't know that concept before LC - LOL!!) If i beked one I'd have a giant cake here and I'd want to eat it!!

Challenge yourself to bake a LC cheesecake and only eat one slice per day. At 305 kcals per slice, it makes a decent breakfast. It get better in the fridge over that time, too.

I could eat a slice a day but i would feel like i was cheating anyway - that's alot of cake, I wouldn't want to start a new bad habit when I've been doing so good. I really had a prob in the past with that kind of food!!

Well, it's 305 calories and about 5 g of carbs per slice...spread over 16 days....cheese, eggs, almond flour, etc.
I've had problems with stuff like that, but that was back when I was eating sugar in cake....

But do as you feel able....
I may do it. it may give me the feeling that I am being so decadent - eating Cheesecake everyday for breakfast! Crazy! And I won't feel like I'm denying myself treats ;o)
I will just give the philly creamcheese recipe a whirl - with splenda of course and I'll look up a nut crust recipe.

If you get out of control, throw the cake in the garbage. That always works with me if I slip up with nuts. I'm not too fond of eating out of the garbage can (and I've thrown almost-full 48oz jugs of almonds away!).

I'd have to spill out the containers into the garbage!! - the insides stay clean so it will justify retrieving the goodies in a an all-out crave rage!! I went off plan once when someone gave me a giant bag of chocolate truffles- i threw it out ...then pulled it out of the trash multiple times. pretty pathetic - but i was fat and pathetic!!

One slice per day? Cheesecake shouldn't be everyday food if you're on a diet. Also anything that is in your house will get eaten. Don't buy or bake stuff that you shouldn't eat--or at least only get a small portion so you don't have the temptation sitting around.

Why not? It's got eggs, cheese, and nuts, which are all LC foods, and the calories per serving are appropriate. A slice of cheesecake makes an ideal (and quick!) LC breakfast, and at that rate you'd only have to make one every two weeks or so.

Nonsense.....I ate one slice per day and lost 8 lbs that month. Learning self-control is a part of what this journey is all about. Without real sugar, the cheesecake won't create cravings the way normal CC would. If you can control yourself with cheese, eggs, splenda in the house, how is this any different?

Or you can have 3 children in the house which will consume any leftovers before an hour is up after baking said dessert.
Why can't it be everyday food? Sounds delicious and a GREAT idea, Roger. I think I will...maybe make it tomorrow. I will probably use it for my lunch, though, instead of breakfast.
Why not? Its ingredients are all things that are perfectly fine on a low carb WOE, cream cheese, eggs, a little flavoring, a little artificial sweetener, maybe nuts for a crust. Why does it matter what format these are presented in?

Even though I'm the token real food purist/zealot, I do have to agree. It's not even a real cheesecake. I could understand if it were real cheesecake (even real cheesecakes are more nutritious than most breakfast cereals), but this is just eggs, cream cheese, nuts, splenda... poured into a springform pan to assume a cheesecake-like *shape*.

I never baked a cheesecake LC or regular - what's the difference in the recipes?

"Real" cheesecake uses sugar and graham crackers instead of splenda and ground almonds. Otherwise, they're basically the same - sweetened cream cheese and eggs in a crust.
