  1. Finally broke 200! Time to change the sig!!!!

I only weigh once every few months, so this was a real shock. I've been
averaging about 2-3 lbs a month, so this is nothing short of amazing.

The only thing I can think of that has changed recently is that I finally
gave up caffeine altogether this summer. I wonder if that had anything to
    do with it.

Dan (doing an entirely undignified happy dance and not acting his age)
    325/199/180
Atkins since 1/1/02 (yeah, it was a New Year's Resolution)
Besetting sins: good beer, German bread, and Krispy Kremes

126 lbs -- OUTSTANDING, Dan! Welcome to ONE-derland! We are never undignified
in our OWN minds -- just to people who happen to be watching us :-) It's a sad
fact that things you do when you are younger look cool, hip, quirky, fun, etc.
You just keep doing the same things, but somewhere along the line they stop being
cook, hip, quirky and fun and now appear to be just plain WEIRD :-)

Don't ever let someone make you feel like this ever again! as my 4 yr old
son would say "trust me, listen to me"
If you don't think you look cool, hip, quirky, fun, etc. then just think of
this. The world is made up of cycles. seasons, lifestyles, ice ages, etc. We
used to think we'd always be young and quirky or clever or whatever we saw
ourselves as, suddenly (years later) our children or their friends see us
like we saw some adults way back and we get freaked out! we were never going
to be like T^HAT!! no way! Life is cycles. roll with it. YOU know who you
are, if it's not quite what you hoped it to be, change what you can.

  7. Congratulations Dan,

    Incredible accomplishment.

I know the 200 was a major psychological barrier.

You're in the home stretch now.

Congrats on your healthy way of living.

It's amazing that given the right information on what to measure and control
.... suddenly we can manage and control our lives.

God bless Dr. Atkins for standing up against the obviously non-thinking
    medical profession.

Congrats for your perserverence and follow through on the new way of living.

    Best Regards,

    Placid

Could be, could be. After all, some people *are* affected by caffeine. I
wasn't willing to risk being held back by it, so I gave it up along with
everything else I'd previously said I'd *never* stop consuming (sugar, pasta,
etc.). I have no idea if it helped; for me it was a self-discipline thing.
You, on the other hand, had already lost a tremendous amount of weight, so you
knew you had self-discipline. (Just curious -- what made you finally ditch the
caffeine so deep into the process?)

Whatever caused you to enter the 100s again, congrats! It's a truly admirable
    accomplishment.

Good work but your subject line sounded like you had just recovered
from a bout of constipation (I just read a similar word in a
    consitpation thread).

LOL! Oh, very likely. Dads generally don't have a lot of moves except
what they've borrowed from endzone victory dances as performed by guys FAR
more athletically gifted than they are ;-)

I come from an uninhibited (and German, go figure...) family and regularly
embarrassed my much more convention-conscious kids throughout their
childhood. But now that a couple have kids of their own, genetics is
taking over and they're starting to hear that singsong, "Da-aa-ad!"

I always thought I had a caffeine habit but I finally realized that I
wasn't actually getting much of a boost off the caffeine. It wasn't a
caffeine habit, just a hot liquid habit. I changed to decaf with no
noticeable withdrawal or difference in my energy level.
