  1. How can it be possible to make more fat while fasting? I do not
    understand, can somebody explain?
While reading some in the DADR, I came across this and I quote..."With
an abnormal metabolism, fat may be manufactured even without food.
Harvard's Dr. Jean Mayer notes in this connection that (an animal with
metobolic overweight, will make more fat even though it may not
over-eat. In fact it will make more fat even while fasting.)"
No doubt Dr. Atkins advocates this....he included it in his book.
I was remembering back when I first posted about Metobolic Resistence.
I was quickly informed that we all have Metobolic Resistence, and to Get
    Over It.
Even so, this just doesn't seem right.

BTW I LOST 3 LBS THIS LAST WEEK!!

  4. A lot of things don't make sense. This would be one of them.

Your body is the result of a million years of evolution. It has been
designed to keep you alive for your allotted years.

Ever notice how cows get fat by eating grass?

If you fast, your body will shut down a lot in order to conserve energy, and
convert whatever you take in so it can provide fuel for the next day, or
    whatever.

Your best bet is to eat well and exercise.

Someone else keeps saying this, but that's JC, and nobody listens to him
    anyhow.

Actually, I do believe that JC is saying "excercise more, eat LESS."
That could imply fasting - that's certainly less. I have never seen him
say "eat well." Particularly since he doesn't advocate any vegetables.

? JC certainly isn't the first to recommend exercising and eating less
    food.

    I don't mind.

  8. Why do you argue as if you knew how to lose weight?

Don't you have a mirror handy? How about a scale?

Trust me. Cattle can get fat off grass. So can horses. Some can even
get fat just looking at grass, or so it seemed to me when I was trying to
keep Django, my first horse back when I was a kid, from turning into a
total lardass ;-) But cows and horses have very different digestive
systems that are not at all comparable to human systems. Incidentally,
horses can also suffer dire consequences from consumption of too much
high-carb food, such as spring grass or concentrated feeds, especially
over a short period of time. It's called founder and is a dangerous and
    potentially crippling condition.

In the case of a fast or starvation, it's a zero sum game in the body and
if fat is being laid down, it's at the expense of muscle tissue or even
    organ tissue.

All I know is that when I went on a water fast for a day, I gained a pound.
Water weight, but there it is.

  11. I think the reason humans are able to put on so much extra body fat
was to survive through times of drought. Your body would survive off
the stored fat. You hear over and over that fasting and not eating
enough is bad for you, but if you're going to use purely logic without
scientific analysis, you could also say the the natural mechanism for
using fat IS hunger or fasting.

But you're saying you didn't gain fat, which is what the question is
    asking.

  13. It is very difficult to determine whether a few pounds in weight is water or
    fat.

Sure it is. But if you're fasting and drinking water and you gain weight,
I'd say that made things a lot less diffcult.
