It's now been 4 months since I began treating my sleep apnoea and consequently found my weight dropping without further change to my diet and exercise patters. It's also 7 weeks since the suicide death of my sister, 6 weeks since the murder of my friend Janine, 5 weeks since the kidnap of my niece, 4 weeks since her return to safe custody and 2 weeks since her bio-father (a violent criminal with a LONG string of convictions) began a campaign of threats against our family when the Family Court ordered that my niece remain with her loving stepfather.
This past month has not been a good one for me, strangely enough. My eating is still more a case of 'what stays down' although I'm trying to make a conscious decision to make lower-carb choices as much as I can - especially since my blood glucose readings have been scary-high! I have been very depressed (no surprise there) and sleeping extremely poorly. I've also been finding myself fantasising about self-harming which was very frightening. I'm not at all surprised that my weight and volume have stayed unchanged this month - I'm only amazed that I haven't actually been gaining again!
I saw my doctor today - I was mainly going in for a repeat prescription for some of my medications but I wound up weeping all over again <sigh> as happens a lot lately. I requested a short course of a mild tranquilliser to try and get me out of the cycle of depressive thoughts and to try and help me get some good sleep, which I think will have an even greater impact on me. He has prescribed for me a short course (2 weeks) of Valium (diazepam) in a minimal dose up to 3 times a day if I feel the need. I'm planning on mainly taking one at night, with a second during the day ONLY if I feel the need, but trying to avoid a third tablet at all - I know this stuff has a bad reputation for being very addictive and I most certainly do NOT want to add addition to my woes right now. I'm hoping that a few decent nights of sleep will help me to sort out my emotions and cope better than I have been up until now.
So, I guess I won't be joining the Weight Loss Challenge this month - perhaps if I manage to get past the sorrow and gloom and actually start losing again I'll be able to consider it.
I have just finished reading your post describing the recent events in your life. It does seem like you certainly have way more than your share of sad/bad things happening in your world.
Please know that there are others who care about you, even though they may not know you personally. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Funny you should say that. Sadly, if I tried to submit a True-Life Synopsis of my actual life for the past few months to any soap opera as a prospective storyline it would be rejected as 'too unrealistic'.

I am going through a not so great period right now too. Not even as close to what you are though. I am taking a extra med now also, xanax. I am rarely around much here anymore, because of things going on with me, sadness.
I care about you, and I hope the sadness and sorrow lifts for you. That you get back on the weight loss, low carbing. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers too.

Life has this obnoxious way of handing [censored] out by the handful every once in a while. If the recipient were a miserable excuse for a human being one could chalk it off to karmic bookkeeping and go on, but it doesn't seem to work that way. I'm glad to see you're still upright and (mostly) functional despite all the recent body blows Amaranth. That's the only path to the other side. Work with doctors as you need them and hold on tight to your support circle. Many of them need you as much as you need them right now. You're in my thoughts.

Be glad you aren't a main character in one. The pay sucks and the makeup person's only prior work was for the cast of "Dawn of the Dead".
I am generally and usually glad.
You are what generally? Main character in a soap opera? Not a main character in a soap opera? I'm operating on one hell of a sleep deficit. Please type slowly. <G>

I am generally and usually glad that I'm not a main character in a soap opera. I like to believe it's because I choose not to be, but it's also possible that fate is involved.

Sometimes fate is a mean [censored]. Every time I start thinking my life has an unfair level of [censored] in it I run across someone with nastier obstacles and a better attitude about it. I don't usually feel bad for them so much as feel ashamed that I'm feeling whiny. Acts as a wakeup call when I need one.

Yes I sort of noticed that you're going through a rough patch - I could feel it from reading your posts. It happened a bit about 3 weeks ago? What's getting you down? And have the dental surgeries started? My appearance on here is rather erratic but I often think of you.

Obviously you've never watched soap operas. There's *always* a main character who's a heartless villain.
