Ask him if he (or his team) use a GPS, or at least keep one as a backup.

Seriously, it would be interesting to know if he relies on modern
technology, keeps one just in case, or relies on other people leading
him around in the traditional way.

I suspect the latter, but I wouldn't be surprised if at least one member
of his crew had one.

Steve, Please compliment him on an excellent "Himalayas" - the photography
is great, and his obvious enjoyment enhances the viewing experience. I have
decided - I must go!

Regarding a question, sound him out on the idea of bringing a small
production team on an urw expedition...

Pictures of him are always in high demand in Tibetian areas and
mention of him goes a long way with the locals as do calls for
Independence, but the production company would have been hampered by
their minders
I would be interested in the roll of the minders what they said, what
they told them they could and could not do, and the impact this had on
the experience.

Some of this might be mentioned this Sunday as I think it is mainly in
Tibet.

I watched him on TV a few weeks ago in Nepal, and he was feeling very sick
at a certain height. I was told by a friend that the reason he was so sick
was because he flew in by helicopter (cheat!). Normal walkers would walk to
the point where he started from over the course of 2-3 days, and they would
therefore acclimatise to the altitude. Ask him if he regrets this now! :-)

Ask him if the Python's 'Ministry of Funny Walks' sketch was really
based on a well-known teacher at Birkdale prep School, Sheffield,
where he was once a pupil? Rumours have it that it was so!
