  1. I did intensive steep hill running yesterday and today my calves ache.
I know if I were weight-lifting I wouldn't work that muscle again with
just one day's rest, but what's the story on DOMS and running? (I'm
sure it's DOMS, not an injury: I recognize the feeling from
weightlifting, though I can't recall the last time I felt it in my
    calves this badly!)

It's a gorgeous day for a run and I'm feeling fine in all respects
except that it hurts to go up on my toes and/or flex my my feet. Should
I run, or rest my legs?

Go for an easy run. Take as many walk breaks as you need. I still get some
DOMS after races or a hard speed work session, the key is to take it easy
    on the next run.

Steep hills often make ones calves sore. One of the key benefits of hill work
is that you'll get fairly rapid neuromuscular adaptions, which should pay off
when you have to run uphill during the race.

    Cheers,

Thanks, that suits me. I'll bring the dog - she always slows me down
    but loves to go along.

I've been stunned at how quickly a little hill work helps. I've done
hill work four times now and my hill running has substantially improved
    on each subsequent outing.

In the gym I'm concentrating on glute and hamstring work, which might be
    helping, too.

    Thanks for your tips.

  9. run, easy

  10. DOMS are the people who come out at night wearing black leather, often
with attached SUBS on a chain. I'm not sure what this has to do with
    running.
