Are they worth it for half marathons? I would fill mine with some
    electrolyte solution.

    No.

Electrolytes are almost useless for a race that short.

    Just take water, and CARBS.

    Cheers,

    No.

Someone else suggested that electrolytes would be useful (DrLith).

You're not paying much attention. Not much use until you're some way over two
hours. And even then, if you're buying into the idea of taking supplements
on the run, CARBS are more important than electrolytes. (Does your lifestyle
permit you to consume large amounts of electrolytes ? You wouldn't put huge
quantities of salt on your dinner, do you ?)

Two hours is short in your book?

If by electrolytes we are talking about salt, Potassium is of liitle
value for something this short, then most sport drinks include salt with
the carbs. Gatorade, Cytomax, yada yada all have some salt to fullfil
your needs. Did yo check to see if the race is offering a sport drink
and you will not need to buy and carry a hydration pack. Keep it simple.

My lifestyle allows me to eat all salt I want, which is typically not
much. So, regarding drinking on the run, all I want is to not create
any dangerous condition in regards to electrolytes.

Salt != electrolytes. You need a balance or you can get into
serious trouble. Serious as in fatal heart attack trouble. Look
    up sodium/potassium balance....

(BTW, the mixture mentioned earlier had equal parts sodium and
potassium. I prefer commercial mixtures like Accelerade.)

.... except for maintaining sodium/potassium balance. This
wouldn't be a big issue with most people, but you always have some
guy with a weird diet out there. :-)

Equal? Nah! 4 NA.. 1 K. One to one is too much K.

I thought he (you?) wrote 1/2 tsp of both. I bet it was 1/2 tbsp
to 1/2 tsp, but that's an easy mistake to make... and why I'll
    stick with the commercial stuff.

It's short enough that I don't worry about electrolytes on low intensity two
hour training runs, which is essentially what he's proposing.

Not me, I use commerial stuff and add water.

For those of us who lose excessive salt, sodium in a half (even at running
    1:28) is useful.
