I am relatively new to running and have a question about strides. I
notice when I run with other people that I have a very short stride (I
am 5'3"😉. To me it seems that I have to do much more "running" to
cover the same distance. Is this a common problem? Is it a problem
at all? Don't I wear myself out sooner by having a short stride? I
have tried running with a longer stride but that gave me really sore
flexors and hip pain, and I couldn't finish my regular distance. Is
this a lose-lose situation?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

more efficient to run with a shorter stride, because it results in less
vertical displacement. It's more likely that the "other people " (whoever
they are) are overstriding.Cheers,

NiaNia, I think I know your problem, it's your [censored]. Send me a pic right away to
confirm my diagnosis. -
Count yourself lucky to have a shuffling short stride. Most elite runners
run that way when not going all out. There are more steps, true, but less bouncing and stress on the body.
