I see you ran the Jailhouse Rock 5K in Ballston Spa, NY, as did I, this past weekend. I ran a 21:25, which was a PR for me by 24 seconds. I am in good shape by my standards, and felt good, but now that I am looking at the results it seems like there were a *lot* of really low times, including a 14 year old girl who ran a 17:36, not that that is impossible or anything. They said that the course was USATF certified. What do you think about the distance? Accurate?
Great goodie bag, post-race food and all-around nice race. Loved that downhill finish.

The course is accurately measured, there is a map for it at the usatf site. http://www.usatf.org/events/courses/search/ The 14 year old girl who ran 17:36 is a very talented area runner. I think there is a psychological aspect to the fast times, people expect a fast course and run faster, a self fullfilling prophecy. I ran the best time I have in a while but it by no means felt easy to me. I'm not sure how much of an advantage the hill is either, it's pretty steep to navigate at the end.

OK, well I guess I'll just have to be happy about the PR then! I'll get in touch with you before I am in the area again at Christmas time. Maybe I can pace off you to get a PR at another race!
