It's great, isn't it? Just make sure you secure your wireless AP. Change
the admin password, use MAC address filtering, and WEP encryption. I'm

One of my neighbors left the SID as Linksys. They also failed to
change the Admin password. I was able to access the router and could
have reconfigured it.

I've asked the few neighbors I've run into if it is there box that is
open ... thus far, no luck.

Glad to read that. I've seen badmouthing of Dell's support lately, but
my (relatively few) experiences have been on the good side, too.

Ain't it a relief? Got my machine off the cable to the router, and got
my wife's laptop off the dial-up that dialed down more often than up.

You should be able to find out by signal strength. I can best access my
neighbor's wireless from my tool shed. I told him anyone could be war-
driving and hacking into his hard drive, but he doesn't care.

i was reading about wireless and "war-driving" today in a comp book. but i do
not understand it. what is this? thanks for explaining.

also, the book mentioned lots of other wireless stuff, such as driving around
in a car picking up other people's wireless programs, etc.

what does this mean, and what's fun or useful about it? i do not have wireless
internet service, so i am not familiar with what i may be missing out on.
