I am 14, about to be 15 and I'm about 5'2" and about 148 lbs. I have
realized that over my summer break, I have gained way too much weight. I
tried running but my knees were aching very bad. It felt like if someone
cut em off they would feel so much better. I was trying everyday for
about a week untill I just couldn't take no more. I then tried running
every other day but.... they still hurt!....Does anyone have any
suggestions or advice for me? I'd appreciate it. I'm tired of being fat
and tired of hurtin'. It's time for a change!

the dufusDoogie? Did your boyfriend skimp on the lube again? Is your cute lil tushie
sore? Or maybe YOU are on your period? I mean you always are a [censored], but not
usually enough to reply to me twice in one week. Unless of course" Twon" left
you, and you are depressed and lonely? -
ignore these nasty men, Britanny. if running hurts your knees, try
spincycling. just do what makes you feel good. don't get discouraged.Subject: Knees

on your knees and you would be able to work out without hurting.
An elliptical trainer looks like this:

Ignore the trolls, Brittany...
It sounds like you're trying to do too much, too soon. Your
body needs quite a lot of time to adapt to running. The best
way is to begin by alternating walking and running, *gradually*
increasing the amount of time you spend running. But first, be sure you have the proper shoes. There are three
basic types- stability, motion control, and cushion. If you are
using the wrong type for your way of going it will only make
your knees worse. The right shoes can help keep you injury-free.
See your local, knowledgable specialty running store, preferably
where they will put you on a treadmill and watch how you run so
they can determine what type of shoe you need to wear.Search the web for beginner runnning/walking program schedules
There are a lot of them out there, with a lot of good info for
new runners. Keep at it, carefully, and you'll be running soon
enough!Teresa in AZ
