  1. hello.

i'm looking for a list of good, healthy, energy boosting snacks anywhere
from 100-300 calories... not necesarilly pre-run snacks.. just something you
like that's healthy and fills you up b/w meals. and the more creative the
better (i.e. a list of fruits won't be that helpful...)

    post yer favorites...

    thanks 🙂

But, if you want healthy, fruits are yummy.
Another option is dark chocolate, with about 70% cocoa.

Or you could try this: the diet of the champions - Ugali.

  3. A handful of granola (with your favorite dried fruit -- there are all kinds
in our market) works great for me. The combination of nuts, seeds, raisins
and your favorite fruit (banana, mango, papaya, cranberry, etc) works to
    keep my appetite in check.

A special treat for summer my wife found in the health food store are those
little rice-dream ice cream sandwiches (only 100 calories each!)

Almonds are great, too. They have the good kind of fat, and are filling.

BTW, sometimes nothing will hit the spot like a big fat burger...

During runs (I do ultras), I prefer salty stuff like mexican food, chunks of
    pizza, etc.
I hate goos (except banana and vanilla :-)

yogurt with some oatmeal or nuts added

There's a commercial product that I've only gotten at Sam's Club:
    Bagel Bars
they are oatmeal based with lots of raisins, apple bits and nuts.
Best served hot from the toaster oven.

i go for almonds, salted low or no fat pretzels, raisins, a peanut
butter sandwich, a honey sandwich, a peanut butter and honey sandwich,
    juice, water, soy drink, carrots.

if i'm quite hungry and don't have to work out for a little while, i'll
have ALL of the above, and make an extra meal out of it 🙂

"Favorite" is the US spelling. "Favourite" is the Canadian/British
spelling. I'd excuse lady_shady if the spelling were consistent, but i
see BOTH spellings.... one in the subject, and another in the message.

those things are excellent! unfortunately, the company that makes them
recalled everything my neighbourhood store carried because they found
trace amounts of milk in there. i'm lactose intolerant but a few drops
never bothered me and i could have lived with it. now it's no ice
    cream-type stuff for me 🙁

    Protein. Actually skin.

    on Jelly Donuts?

  20. Generally, I try not to eat for at least an hour or more before a run
or working out, but my favorite pre-race/moring game-day meal is
toasted peanut butter and banana sandwiches and yogurt with cranberry
    juice and lots of water.
