Seatpost question.

The seatpost clamping style is independent of the diameter of the seatpost,
which is the parameter you're looking for. Take the seatpost out and look
near the bottom 1/4 of it for a number followed by a "Ø" symbol. This
number is diameter, and is the the one you want to match up with on the new
seatpost.

For these types of clamps, it's likely you have a steel frame, so you'll
probably have a seatpost diameter less than 27.2mm, usually 26.8mm.

OK, it appears that I didn't explain myself as clearly as I thought I
had. :-)

I have an _Aluminum_ frame that is build (intentionally) without _any_
way of clamping the seatpost into the seat tube.

Therefore is has to use an internally expanding seatpost. The
seatpost that came with it is too short for my needs.

It is a Suntour, 27.2mm dia., that uses and expansion method similar
to an older style handlebar stem. By this I mean that it is cut on a
45 degree angle and has a short section, also with a 45 degree angle,
that is pulled up by an internal bolt to effect the expansion. This
bolt is actuated by the 'cam lock' method (similar to the way a quick
release works) that uses a 5mm allen key.

I'm hoping to find a seatpost that is about 9+ inches long.
