I'm a 4th year industrial design student in the National University of Singapore..
Currently, i'm working on a project of an amphibious bike..
I'm having problems with the bike moving on sand...
Anybody have any idea as to what kind of wheels can move on sand? From what I understand a thicker wheel with tracks can be able to move on sand. However as it has to be human powered (cycling) the theory is that it will take up too much energy to even get the bike moving as friction is very much higher when you have a thicker wheel running on the terrain..
Hello, I'm not sure how much help this is, but Hanebrink makes a strange bike that can do anything. It may help to look at their website www.hanebrink.net I hope this helps. Good luck!
