VERY nice! 😄 I'm a Look user myself, but I toyed with getting those exact pedals earlier this year... still wouldn't mind a set. The shoes look pretty snazzy too, very sexy indeed. I love shopping for cycling shoes, it's one of my favourite things. From a style context, I give you 5 stars. 😄
If you're still worried about amount of float on those pedals after a longer ride, from memory there are different cleats that have less float (much like black vs. red Look cleats). The ones you have are yellow- I seem to recall seeing a red variant of those cleats? Maybe they'd offer a 'tighter' feel than the yellow. 🙂 Best of luck at Glenvale tomorrow.

Thanks man! That'd be the only thing I own that anyone
would call stylish! ;-) hippy = daggy.
I paid extra just to get black hehe :-)

Cheers! Yeah the ones I have are the SM-SH11 cleats which
are yellow and have sideways play. The SM-SH10 cleats are
red, have a wider front section and don't have any float.

I'd love to be, but this season I am a [whinge] SENIOR [/whinge] so I'd be racing against big scary ADULTS! Like you! And if memory serves, you can kick my butt on a bike... 😉
That said, if I do some short distance training at high speed that's really all I'll need to be raceworthy. I won't be able to contest the sprints because they'll be too fast, but I should be able to stick with the bunch for the prior laps. With training, of course, because the fact remains that I haven't ridden my bike for about 2 months, and then 3-4 months before that. Is there track training on too? Which one are you going to? I used to go to Monday, Wednesday and Thursdays.

I guess theres no way to adjust the float on those pedals? can i ask how much those pedals cost in aus? i had a brief look at that model and ended up getting the LOOK 396´s for 40 euros new (thats about 68$ aus i think). Have not had the chance to try them yet though.

I dunno man.. I'm not so fast on the track.. yet.

Just coz you were a lucky junior! I was going to the
Novice sessions on Thu and then 'graduated' to the
General sessions on Mondays. See:
http://www.blackburncycling.org.au/services/track.html
I might go to Thu first then Mon to get back into it.

Good strategy... I might join you in that. See if I can still ride a bike on Thursday's, then get my butt whooped on Mondays. Huzzah! 😉 When are you going to start on the Thursday nights? I can probably make it from Mid-November onwards. If I'm feeling motivated, I'll toddle on down to the track next Monday evening, I don't have school and will probably be more than a tad bored come Monday night. 😄

Not as far as I am aware.

These retail for around $170-190 but many places
will do them cheaper than that. I got a discount
with my bulk buy so I'm not sure what the actual
cost was. SPD-SL's are being hailed by many as
Look killers :-) (well, maybe just me, but that's the
impression I got while looking..)
Look 396's here cost ~$300!!
Where did yours come from?

Same here :-)

Not sure. I've got my car back now so I can get to
the track on time. I think I'll just keep an eye on the
website until training sessions are confirmed. Racing
started this Sat.

I might get my stuff together on time. I've got to fit it
in with my other training.

Do you have a coach and training schedule, or do you just have one for yourself?
All this talk of cycling has made me enthusiastic about the bike again! 😄 I've just spent the last couple of hours tinkering on my bike-
*got rid of the computer which died long ago and has just been sitting on my handlebars doing nothing (bike looks much better without wires unnecessarily everywhere)
*changed seats over to the one from my MTB, a Selle Royale Wing, from a Selle Italia Fokus TransAm that was giving me, shall we say, genital numbness :p
*lubed the chain and cleaned the bike
*set the bike up to fit me properly (I've grown a fair bit since I last rode it).
*pumped the tyres up
I'm feeling pretty excited, to be honest! 🙂 I don't have time to ride now, I have to go to church soon, but I'm keen and willing to get out and about tomorrow night or before school tomorrow morning.
I might be able to keep up with you on the track yet, Hippy... 😉

Tell 'em hippy sent you ;-)

I don't think I lose enthusiasm in a macro sense.
I suffer from micro-cycling disenchantment. :-)
(i.e. I'll miss a day because I don't feel like it)

True, but I love my data, so I'd fit a new one :-)

We shall if we want.. I'm still up for a seat swap simply
because this one has worn my [censored] to the bone in places
and I figure it's time to wear out other places :-)

Hmm... foreign practise to me.. must be something
you youngsters get up to. ;-)

I wish I was still growing (up, not out).

I just crash into people that pass me.. hehe. You should
have a fast spin and then tactics come into play. I\ <- Sorry,
my just walk on my keyboard! There's definately plenty of
oppurtunity for you and anyone else to kick my butt.. especially
when I take myself out.

I'm already theoretically coached by someone, but I've seen no evidence of it. 😉 I'll try to get in touch with my coach and then talk to 'your people' 😉

As do I, I'm going to buy one when I get some money. Just not a Sigma BC1400, seeing as I've been through 4 sets of cables and 2 computer units. :p You'd think I'd learn... 😉

You don't want the aforementioned Selle Italia Fokus TransAm, do you? 😉 I'd happily swap it for whatever you've got... it's a leather saddle with carbon railings, pretty light. Looks brand new. 🙂

What do you do to them?! I smashed off my Cateye in
the Kona24 last year but the thing still works and still
"sits" on my bars.. you'd never know it was busted! :-)

Selle Italia Gel Flite. I wouldn't put my [censored] on carbon rails..
SNAP! OW! I think mine is a positioning issue since I
moved the seat right back. I think too much weight is focused
on my soft undercarriage bits due to sitting too much on the
saddle nose.. ya know I'd adjust it if I wasn't so lazy/tired...

I got the same impression from stores here and was looking at the Ultegra pedals but thought id hold off for a few days. I got the LOOK´s off a online selling forum for cycling gear. The guy i bought em off already had two sets of Speedplays and didnt seem to care too much for the LOOKs. On my way to his place i came across an expat supermarket so i scored myself a Milo fix as well. Bonus for me i guess.
The track aggregate for last season... I don't even remember racing, and I still came 14th... I'm strangely chuffed about that. 😉 Thats given me even more motivation to ride track this season.

I cant get any ON one!

The red ones have more float. I think that, even if you want to use the
black ones, check out positioning on the red ones first, just in case.

I've currently got reds on and they seem OK. I'm a runner who's recently
adopted triathlon. I'm still getting up to speed on all this bike stuff,
this group has been invaluable.
Cheers,
Brad
FD- yup, 14 points, but I'm also ranked 14th if my counting is correct. I must have done some races... just can't for the life of me remember them...! :p
Brad- I wouldn't suggest trying the blacks (if you want blacks at all) until you're pretty happy with the cleat positioning of the reds. I change between black and red as it suits me, but you need to be pretty careful with the blacks because if they're set wrong they can do some damage to your knee.
