  1. Man was it cold this morning at Wissahickon Valley Park in Philadelphia,
PA. Even though 38F is not the coldest I've ridden in, having lost most
of my body fat since last winter it sure feels colder. The sun was
behind the clouds and it just felt blustery. Nine of us showed up for
the JAR ride this morning, including a couple who haven't been there in
a while. Right off the bat you could see the damage that the summer
rains have done to the park (first time I've ridden Wiss since the
spring). The Indian Head trail was fenced off and you could see where
the trail has fallen into the stream that runs along side it.

We did most of the trails and the evidence of erosion was everywhere.
Washed out rutted trails either created some extra challenges or were
just too much of a pain and had to be walked. It is going to take a
long time to fix this damage. Things that were not technical before,
have now become extreme. Boulders that give the sense they are firmly
planted slide out from under your wheels. Some parts were just
downright trecherous. Even with the mess, I noticed how much I've
improved since the last time. With the exception of one very rutted
hill, I was able to climb everything. Life is much better when you
don't have to get off the bike all the time 🙂.

Time to charge up the lights for the Halloween Midnight ride on
    Saturday. Good ole spooky fun!
