While reading the latest issue of Scientific American yesterday I was astounded to see a full-page
ad for Bigha. It was a little over-the-top, but what the heck, actually sort of cool with its
tongue-in-cheek suggestion that cruising around on a 'bent might facilitate deep scientific or
philosophical thoughts. Big points to BigHa for this one.

It does look bad, doesn't it, when an entire ad campaign is based on the idea that you have to go to
the web site to see what they're really talking about, and the web site isn't there... -

website. :-)On a more serious note they will probably notice and fix it monday.

of bikes sold in the USA are under $200. Only "enthusiasts" spend more than 1K on a bike.I think they'll need plenty of the sharper image crowd. How many of you (enthusiasts) would grab a
BigHa when you could, for the same dough, grab a:Corsa and $250 worth of accessories. Tour Easy with 1K worth of extra stuff GRR (with $200 from the
couch change) Street Machine with Rohloff Hub Greenspeed GTR Volae Team with full DuraAce and SRAM
XO bits... Reynolds T-Bone A Rans V-Rex AND a V2..., or 3 Rockets...Rocket and a month in Italy?

Personally, I think the bike looks original and cool. I like the colors, the multiple frame sizes,
the integrated lighting system. Yes it's pricey - so are a lot of things. At least when somebody
shows up at a recumbent event on a Bigha, no one will be asking what it cost, because the price is
it's best-known attribute. -

of a position light and not something you could light up a road with but its okay for its intended
use I guess.I wouldn't flame anyone that bought it. I just don't see one in my future.

The aesthetics and electronics are something you cannot get on any other bent. I have not seen
another warranty that covers all parts (including tubes) and I know nobody else will give you a 60
day trial period in which you get a full refund. It is pricey, but to even be fair in comparing this to your favorite bent you must include all the
"accessories" it comes with. Components on a Bigha that you might have to pay for on another bike:dual disc brakes sram dual drive front and rear fenders cyclometer (if it's as good as advertised,
you can't find a better one) headlight tail lightHow much would all that run you as after market accessory add ons?
Plus the bike comes with suspension, turn signals, brake light and a bunch of other neat
looking stuff.I've been following the company since seeing one on Cycle Oregon. Had I not just bought a new boat,
I might be commuting on a Bigha now. Frankly, there seems to be a radical anti-Bigha group on this
board, and I don't see the logic behind it. If you don't like it -- don't buy it. Please don't spoil
the fun for the rest of us. -

Anyway 3000 usd would buy me among other things: A carbonracer with tailfaring. or A Hase Kettwiesel
trike with much better lights and still leave me 1100 euro for a computer or a dualdrive provided I
wanted one. or A Bachetta Corsa. or A Tour Easy, probably with a fairing. If I just wanted a commuter there are loads of bikes that are way cheaper still. If this spoils your
fun it must be because theres a grain or two of truth in it.M.

Not trying to be a pain but I for one would not buy any of those bikes you mentioned above. Not
impressed. If I'm going to spend $3K or more I want something different and unique. It may be a
BiGHA or maybe not. Point is different strokes for different folks. The reason we have vanilla,
chocolate, strawberry and a gazillion other flavor icecreams. How boring the world would be
without variety.By the way, I am a Sharper Image customer and own a Xooter too.

tolerance for other lifestyles and choices. In practice it isn't always there, but...we try. I
probably wouldn't buy a Bigha, but just because it isn't my cup o' tea doesn't mean I have to
ridicule it or everyone who buys one. The carbon lowracers are cool, for certain, but another
certainty is my neck would be permanently screwed up IF I were to ride one any distance. Again, no
need for me to malign the bike or anyone who rides it. Same with DFs. Different strokes for
different folks is indeed the point. It's tribalism at work, trying to get everyone to like what you like.

tourers, commuters. Some which are quite similar to the Bigha. How is pointing that out maligning
anyone? If anything people considering the Bigha which by the supporters and companys own definition
aren't recumbent riders and thus might not be aware ot the fact should appreciate that info.M.

set of lights, and still have enough left over for a decent road bike or maybe even a lowracer. All
from websites which aren't 404 ;-)Not that I give a toss, you understand, but it is a heck of a lot of money for what looks
supiciously like a town bike. A tidy one, but a town bike all the same.Quoted message said:

Stinger) is comfortable for long distances, as is my upright steel tourer to a lesser degree. Racers
are by nature a bit extreme, and racing 'bents are no exception.Quoted message said:

<sigh> And here I was trying to reason with you.A bit harsh, if you don't mind my saying so. Your statement was, to put it charitably, controversial
in the current international climate, and Mikael's comment seemed tactful to me; noting that your
statement may not be universally accepted as truth without starting a flame war was commendably
restrained, for my money. So now maybe you'll kf me, if you haven't already. That would be sad.

To me the bike looks like a Bike E with a few extras, some of which are pointless (who needs
indicator lights on an unfaired bike??). Something like the HPVelotechnik Spirit has the dual discs,
dual drive, full suspension, looks stylish (IMHO) and costs half the price. Adding some lights, etc
would hardly bring it up to $3000.Mads Hilberg

Sometimes, in the US anyway, the most ridiculous consumer products sell well precisely because
they're expensive/lavish/over-the-top. Look at the Hummer
H2. What a ridiculous vehicle. Costs $50,000+; but they're selling like mad. Think of what else you
could have for $50,000!Barry
