Alternatively you could ask Helen. Just let us know in advance so we
can take cover behind 2 inch plate steel.

Depends on direction. If you just came from Reading,
Swindon is a really nice place.

    Well, it's nicer than Dunstable.

Tosh, I hold the entirely reasonable view that they are foul objects, which
make even the fittest, handsomest chap look like a reject from a Mr Muscle
advert ;-) Anyone who wears them requires a good slabbing to knock a bit of
    sense into their head ;-)

LOL, thanks everyone. The paving slab fairy bit did it, I found Guy's page through that. Too funny!

I know we've been round this block before. I know it's tedious. I'm
going to go around it once again.

It is neither courteous nor witty to poke fun at other people's physical
infirmities; it is humour of the crudest and most objectionable kind.
You don't like bibshorts? Well, thank your lucky stars you don't have
to wear them. Bibshort wearers do not dress to please you. Most of them
are already sensitive about their spreading waistlines and do not need
their confidence knocked any further. If you don't like looking at
them, don't look at them. Go off somewhere else and poke fun at blind
people's canes and guide dogs, or at disabled people's wheelchairs.
    It's all you're fit for.

It is neither courteous nor witty to poke fun at your preconception of
other people's personalities based on where they might live. You don't
like Tunbridge Wells? Well, you don't have to live there. Residents of
Tunbridge Wells do not choose their location to please you. Most of
them are already sensitive about their stuck up image and do not need
their confidence knocked any further. If you don't like reading their
letters, don't read them. Go off somewhere else and poke fun at
scouser's accents and house-breaking instruments[1], or at Welshmen and
    their sheep[2]. It's all you're fit for.

    Disgusting, originally from Tunbridge Wells

I don't wish to be controversial, but I disagree - for the same reason
that gentlemen of a fuller figure should wear braces rather than a belt
    to keep their trousers up.

For such fellows, wearing trousers with a belt or shorts with an
elasticated waistband causes unsightly 'overhang', whereas braces or
bibshorts allow the belly to take a more natural shape - not exactly an
appealing sight, perhaps, but marginally less unappealing.

Besides, bibshorts preclude any danger of "builder's bum".
