I see (teflon lined) brake cables in 1.2mm, 1.5, 1.8 sizes.
What's the preference for a road bike. Obviously thinner is lighter, but we're talking _brake_ cables, so I'm thinking thicker is better. But, 1.8 sounds pretty thick... I'm thinking that 1.5 is what I'm used to. Opinions ?
Use the thickest you can fit. The extra weight is negligible and you'll get better braking.

Same question for derailleur cables. Also, is stainless suggested ? Obviously it's nice not to rust, but I have 25 year old cables that still look good, so ...
I'd stick to Shimano inners. They're stainless and pre-stretched. I've had weird indexing problems with some other cables.
