what would happen if in the tour de france one year, all of the riders had to ride big heavy mountain bikes.......lol.......something i had been wondering about..
they would definetly go slower

They were pretty heavy when the first Tours began more than a hundred years ago, and they only had one gear. Modern mountain bikes are probably faster.
