By doing this you are stopping my kill filter from working. I have a kill-filter on the word "helmets" as I don't want to read about them, but the replacement of some letters by asterisks mean they get through anyway! Is that the idea - to make sure people don't filter out certain messages? If so, what is the purpose of that? I just delete them manually which takes a long time and is inconvenient, but I still don't read the message!
Delete? You can only delete a post if you made it yourself!

You can delete a message from your machine but only the sender (in theory) can *cancel* a message - but it helps to be quick about it, once it gets off your ISP's server your "cancel" message can find it impossible to catch up with the original. -- Phil Cook looking north over the park to the "Westminster Gasworks"

Cancels are trivially forgeable, so these days few places will honour the cancel request even when it does catch up with the original.
