When you take off from traffic lights and quickly try to get seated you
don't have to worry about the top of your shorts getting caught on the
seat and baring yourself to the traffic behind you (grumble ... grumble
    .... stupid cheap no-name nix)

Comfort. They don't require a tight elastic
strap around your waist to hold them up.
Your tummy has room to move :-)

You can pose in the mirror after a ride, looking all buff, superhero and he-man . . . (steps into cold shower to calm down). Warmer in winter? Easy to hang up? Fit better on long rides? Less chafing? Clearly delineates love-handles you desperately want to get rid of?

if the lights are low and you squint, you can pretend you are the guy in the Assos catalogue (http://www.assos.com.au )!!

They keep the fat in and make you look slimmer 🙂

But seriously, they're more comfortable I reckon.
I don't own any knicks anymore.

If price is not an issue, then I would recommend you get a set of "Gagster"
8-panel knicks for the bargain price of $499.95. They are top of the line
and the chamois is hardly stained. I currently have a special where you can
get two pairs for $800......that's 20% off......don't miss out.....send cash
    now!!!

    Ride On,

    Gags

It's one of those things that you just have to try for yourself.

Personally, I prefer Biemme, but I've also got some Nalini and
Santini ones. They're all good but I find the Biemme the most
    comfy.

Cannondale are also good but too expensive.

I think some people here like Sugoi but they're expensive too
and I haven't tried them myself.

the brand that fits the best! I have a Santini and an Assos bib , both are good, the Assos fit a little better on my shoulders. YMMV.

  13. I like my Assos FI.13 bib/brace but they are very expensive, RRP $319. You
can always wait until there is a sale on. I waited and paid $260. Still very
expensive but good. I used to ride on Netti cheap shorts (not bib/brace) for
~$80 and they are obviously no match to top end Assos. You get what you paid
for, most of the time. But they also did their job.
