  1. i just finnished building up a vitus alloy frame spaced for a 5 cog
freewheel. wondering if its easy / possible to re-space it for more
cogs? i understand cold setting an alloy frame is a bad idea.

I have respaced early Cannondale frames, but the Vitus is glued
and screwed. I would be seriously worried that reefing on the
rear end would damage the drop out joints, or the bridges. The
tubing is so limber, however, that you probably could get away
with just squeazing in a 126mm hub. I would just do that without
any cold setting and see if it works. That would at least get you
    six speeds. -- Jay Beattie.

Addendum: Ooops. On 126mm you can get seven speeds, and with a
Sheldon Brown kludge, you can get eight. -- Jay Beattie.
