  1. Congrats to Tyler Hamilton for gold...57 min 31 s

Eki got silver and Julich for bronze.

  2. Are the Germans boycotting the Olympics this year or just the medal podiums? Ullrich finishing seventh?????

    Good job USA!!!

  3. Why is Eki awesome in the Olympic TT but only good during the TDF?

He is riding the TDF for Lance. If he went 100% on the TT's he wouldn't be 100% for the next day and keeping LA out of the wind.

  5. Soon we will be probably able to say "congrats to Ekimov for his second TT olympic gold"! Not reached by the best way, but its not important for statistics😉

Hehe all that is probably very strange for Rogers, who got WC gold after Millar`s disqualification and soon OG bronze after Hamilton`s.

Oh dear! He might get off with this one because the B sample was accidentally frozen. But he won't get off with the other positive case. I don't understand what all the intrigue is about apart from what method he used and what physiological benefit it served. Here in Europe being stood down for EPO abuse is quite normal these days. On this site there are too many pot-washers by day and High Court Judges when they get home, and I think I will unsubsribe shortly. I think you, in your last message to me you got confused and sent me a message which was addressed to gentleman(sic). Well at least I hope you did. I think he's crackers and he's on my ignore list. I am also appalled that people accuse LA of doping, and nothing has ever proved positive. If you want to read the rants of Limerickman in 'soapbox' and his anti American stance please do. He also vehemently attacks LA on every front and ruined our Eurosport MB during the TDF.

I can't imagine why anyone would have any interest in reading or care in the least about what that empty suit, complete ahole, Limerickman has to say about anything - particulary the United States. There once was a man from Ireland, who was such an ahole it was tireing....

Somehow I think we might be familiar with each other on a different board. Is this true? I always try to keep the same handle. Lim does 6/7 messages a day on here, plus his numerous postings on ESMB. I just thought that the Americans would like to know about their Irish cousin after them giving all that money to NORAID.

I may have misse something but I don't know of any other positives out there looming over Hamilton's head. In the Olympics he was accused of blood doping, taking a red blood cell transfusion from another person to increase his hematocrit. Not taking EPO. The test for this is new. I think it is to identify two populations of blood cells.

Are you certain Tyler wasn't using "bovine plasma" aka synthetic haemaglobin along with a HBOC such as RSR-13? No specific disclosures have been made.

This way Tyler can keep his hematocrit level to 50%, whilst boosting himself into orbit 30-50% on liquid oxygen.

We need to see those three (3) failed tests.

And why has not Tyler announced an "independent blood test". He could have done that this week at the UCLA labs as he was here for the Las Vegas Interbike. He had time for Compex, not lab work.

And so it goes with athletes, lots of denials but no facts or proper behavior.

    Action speaks louder than words.

At the time of the Vuelta positive A anouncement, Tyler did anounce he was having a sample taken at an independent lab. Wouldn't take long for him to give the blood sample, so Interbike would not be a conflict.

Not sure if that independent lab can perform this test and have not heard any results from that test.

I didn't state that he was stood down for using EPO. I do understand what's going on, well as much as any body else. I don't understand all the sugary comments about what a nice person he is. You know, helping old ladies across the street, cutting the neighbours grass, cleaning windows, helping out at church etc. He's a very naughty boy and is going to get his bottom spanked.
The other rubbish about appealing to USADA won't work either, they have no say in the matter. The drug testing was done by the IOC/UCI/ WADA agreement.

I still am looking for other charges against Hamilton. I am just saying while I follow the news I may have missed something. Or maybe the IOC/UCI/WADA maybe not revealing anything until they compile their evidence.

TH has got enough on his plate. Everybody has speculated, and now we have all have to wait for the main feature. Make sure you get a good seat for the show.
I think he might get off the Olympic one on a technicality. The storage of the B sample. The Vuelta, no chance.

  15. Isnt he already off the Olympic one by virtue of retaining the Gold? They cant very well suspend/find him and let him keep the medal ,that would be hypocritical.Or are we talking about a seperate organisation?

Any idea how long this thing will take to 'close'? Whilst it obviously looks bad i'd like to hear the defense before i take down my Tyler posters (joke , i dont have any but you get the picture)

I think right now it's in the hands of USADA, and I believe that they have 30 days to come to a judgement. 30 days probably started once the formal notification happened, which means a couple weeks from now we will know their ruling.

Ahh hes going to get off the Olympic one scott-free then. They dont have any say in the UCI Vuelta case though do they? Still , no-one comes out of it a winner : Tyler , Sponsors , team , fans , other riders , the sport , authorities and drugs bodies.
    What a mess.
Alot of people are waiting for a worthy defense at least - if you're going to stand up to 3 positive tests , you better have the decency of coming up with a better reason than the excuses some of the Belgians have been making lately.
Millar for all his faults put us out of our misery and held his hands up to it.This sport badly needs an injection of integrity right about now.

  18. Lets see, WADA took a stage race win away from an American on the Navigators who took a cold medicine which was officially removed from the banned list this year, Sudafed, but his urine tested positive for a substance, the metabolite of sudafed, and then he was officially deemed as a doper. Hmmm..

    Anyone see a pattern here?
    vis a vis Tyler?

They catch Museeuw AFTER he retires?
How full of [censored] is that!?!
Frank VandenB is still racing, what with his diabetic dog and all...
and deClerq had asterisks next to his hematocrit levels and EPO pamphlets because he is writing a friggin novel about a cyclst who dopes.???

    WTF!?!?!

I do hope Tyler comes up with a good reason/defense whatever for the tests, but I am very suspicious actually of both sides now, the riders, but also the testers. The sport appears to be as stupid, undiscerning, and wrong-headed about the doping controls and process as they were about the doping problem before Festina.

In other words, they dont know or care about the real issue, health of riders and integrity of sport, they just want to pay some scientists and testers to catch some people, throw the book at them, and make it LOOK like they are doing something, so they can keep making their bucks off the spectacle. Almost like a circus.

If you're referring to Zajicek, he was tested and found to have a high level of norpseudoephedrine (6mcg vs. the allowable limit of 5mcg). This is a positive test result. There are limits for a reason, and unfortunately for Zajicek he played too close to the line.

And lest you think that the only reason one would have high norpseudoephedrine results is because one took Sudafed, think again.

No, not at all. Tyler was caught with someone else's blood, clearly an intent to cheat.

If you hope Tyler comes up with a good reason/defense, then I would say you aren't really that suspicious of the riders.

I don't agree. I think that you mischaracterize the position of WADA. You should read their Code at wada-ama.orgcode v3.pdf

Well, if it's OK to take Sudafed, why is there a problem with having a metabolite. What are the range of normal values for norpseudoephedine in a person taking it at normal dosages. This policy is just a Catch 22 set up by WADA. Why would normal Sudafed be OK to take, but illegal to take the metabolite? Doesnt make sense!

Tyler was caught with someone else's blood, clearly an intent to cheat.

If you think Tyler was caught with a few units of someone else's blood in a bag ready to infuse, I think you've got your facts wrong. He came up with positives three times on a test as yet unvalidated in large numbers of people.

I agree it looks very suspicious, but lets wait and see.

I think WADA should acknowledge their code leaves riders in a bind. Either its OK to take sudafed or it isnt. Silly really. same as coffee.
