Hello all - first post for me on this site, just joined tonight and looking forward to the wealth of knowledge out there.
I started to get more seriously into cycling this summer and absolutely love it. It is my first season with clipless pedals.
Here's my question: Is there a technique for clipping in when you're starting from a standstill on an uphill incline? I try to avoid putting myself in this position if possible, the one time I did, I nearly fell over from not having enough forward momentum to get the second foot clipped in.
I put the pedal right at the top of my downstroke and ussualy pedal a few rotations with one foot out of the pedal (in the arch of my shoe- not the ball), then clip the second foot in when it's at the bottom of it's rotation- 25 years of skateboarding has given me great balance, but my wife does this as well and it works for her too (she can't even sit on the skateboard without falling🙂 ). Hope that helps
