You'd be amazed by the driving at the San Fran race on Sunday. I was
positioned on the outside of the turn from Union onto Columbus and team
and offical cars were taking the turn with tires screaming. More than a
couple looked ready to take out the crowds on the median on Columbus if
they failed the turn. They also came close to a few riders (damned if
one didn't actually honk at one!) To see those cars taking that turn
with so much speed and fuss suggests these people should qualify for F1
no problem after that race. And to think I often take turns at that
kind of speed on my bike and think nothing of it.

Last year, the cops riding harleys were ramping it up and jumping
onto the flat parts of Fillmore. The crowd was going CRAZY about that.

I got a picture of one of them about 9-12" off the ground.

Not bad for a 900+ pound motorcycle!

this is part of the "flash". promoters will put a pace car on a crit
course even if it's not needed to have it screch around the turn and
add to the spectacle of bike racing.
