Star-fangled nuts sutable for 1" aluminum sterrers would probably work
great in bar ends. You could use headset top caps as bar end caps.

the landlord came up with a broomhandle threaded end. Hard durable
plastic male threads. I assume there's a female on the mop/brush end
possibly grind/fileable to the barend ID. He didn't supply the brush
ends. Are these plastics glueable? Goop? The suppllied plugs fell out
when Gooped but i'll have to go back and redo to spec the surface prep
that was probably sloppy.
broom threads are like the end plugs threads came with the Harris bar
foam.
maybe an SAE thread standard for these mop/bar end threads?
I suppose it's also possible to cut ID/OD matched pipe in half then
groove(there's a good blizzard, with a sprained ankle)

the idea: the foam on the 5 plus inch length of bar i'm running takes
7 or 8 inchs of the harris bar foam, a hi quality foam whose name
escapes me, compressing to a real comfortable plush feel easing a
lotta strain over 50-75 miles.and its cleanable in case yawl slobber
your DQ onto the cateye.

the bar foam istructions may read cut to length?
the instructions shud read squeeze the extra length onto the bar and
enjoy!

auto or electrical equipment wire straps or tie!
strapped the bar end, and did not wipe off the soap lube residue, tight
pulling the plastic with a long nosed visegrip. foam's up tight!
the strap's block holds the bar foam in place: three straps side by
side with strap blocks at 120 degrees auto do it or a scrap of
sandpaper or spot of goop under the strap or..
the foam pushed up against the lever mounts plushes deeper and is more
comfortable than foam stretched out and thinned.
the foam on my bar comes from harris. this quality foam packs 3-4" more
than bar length up against the lever mounts, plushing nicely.
