OT - longest running thread?

It's very unlikely to be a thread. I think Google tends to thread
things with identical subjects, whether they're a thread or not.

They're separate threads listed together by Google because the subject
line is the same. I suspect the content of each is pretty similar too
(though I couldn't tell you for sure because I am boycotting helmet
threads).

It's not a single thread, but many threads with the same title (which
google groups lists together).

Neither is it remotely near to a candidate for longest.

When I saw the thread title, I thought someone had just crossposted to
us, from a thread that's been going on since before I first got on the
'net back in 1987.

If it is the longest thread then it only just beats the:

'How do you take off pedals' (or similar wording) that seems to crop up
every now and then.

Remember replying with Tubby Alexander's dictate:

This produced loads of - only if the spanner is above, mars in conjunction
with venus, if the bones are in agreement, and the omens kindly etc.
