Haven't had a problem with my ID, but I know a few people who have had
cracked frames with their truths. Are you sure you were just doing XC?
Why would you want to use a 40+ pund machine for that anyway?

31 lbs actually.

I like the slack head angle, and I'm 200 lbs. XC machines tend to fold
up under me.

Wiht the 10 or so people I ride with, there are 4 ellsworth owners (3
now) and the total over the last couple of years is 2 broken Id frames
(both carry outs). 1 broken truth, and now a twice broken joker.
Every one of them has snapped at the BB welds.

I really do just ride XC though. High speed single track with no big
air, occasional rock gardens, that's XC right?

I came this | | close to buying one a couple/few years ago. It was
actually a Cambria Bike employee that gave me a healthy doubt about the
Joker by what he refused to say.

Well I know a guy who is 230lbs. and had one. He really does ride XC too
and it broke in the same place. He bought a Bullit with DC forks but still
rode it XC. He loved it and said it was great but heavy. He sold me the
frame and bought a Heckler frame. This guy really does only ride XC.
Well... the heckler wound up failing. The 5th coil over and the swing arm
twisted up. He claims he just railed a corner and the rear washed out
but... this is the only Heckler I have ever seen have structure problems. I
just think 200lbs. and up you are really pushing it unless you get a strong
heavy frame.

Now Dangerous Dan seems ok on the Joker but he looks like he is around
165lbs.

Give a Bullit a try or at your weight a Heckler.

Oh ya just warantee it and sell the the new frame. Other choices are the DH
version of the Gemini... it has the floating brake arm, Haro EX, RMountain
Switch and of course the Ventana El Chamuco.

Actually I think the El C. would be perfect for you and on sale too....

It sounds like you were unfortunate enough to get your grubbies on one
that was not fabricated at Ventana. Who knows where tiny is having
his "borrowed" designs fabricated nowdays????

The diff in weld quality between my Isis that failed and the replacement was
night-and-day. The failed weld looked like somebody just dribbled melted metal
onto the two surfaces. The welds on the replacement frame were on a par with
the welds on my Seven frame - i.e. very professional.
