Bob said:I'm going to be repainting my 1970's R531 frame this Winter. I'm
thinking of adding some braze on's for water bottles. Two
questions:- where can I find a supplier of the braze-ons... or do I have to
make them ?- are special techniques needed to braze to a frame ? I know that
using a low temp is important... but are there other concerns?
You can get braze-ons from framebuilding suppliers. Henry James
(www.henryjames.com) in the US, or Ceeway (www.framebuilding.com) in
the UK.
Bidon bosses are reasonably easy to apply if you have brazing
experience. Use a relatively soft, neutral flame. I use silver solder
(56%), as it keeps the temperature down. If these terms are
meaningless to you, go to a framebuilder.
