  1. hey guys I got a question. Do you ride your tires at max pressure or do you knock them down some? Does it depend on the terrain

  2. I only run my tires at max pressure (45psi) if I'm riding on roads or sidewalks. If I'm on technical singletrack with obstacles such as roots, rocks, steep climbs, etc., I usually run 30-35psi.

It definately depends on the terrain. The more traction you need, the lower the pressure. Of course, you will lose speed because of the increased rolling resistance.

Much also depends on your weight. To prevent pinch flats, heavier riders require more tire pressure than ligher riders.

  3. Depending on your bike...Road Bikes should be rasied to max pressure to reduce rolling resistence. Mountain Bikes can have a softer wheel to help with traction. =)

Agree completely with Vector7. I just assumed we were talking about mountain bikes since this is the "Tech Corner - Mountain Bike" forum.
