Long pannier rack

to the garage to measure it - but I should imagine it is the normal
size. Though the Logo model has a lower mounting rail that seems to
extend slightly further back so maybe this would move the pannier back
enough..

However they do make an adapter (for the lower mounting point
presumably) to be used when fitting the racks to bikes with disk brakes
which moves the rack further back to clear the caliper - might help with
your situation. Don't know if this only fits to bikes with disk brake
mounts though.

Have measured my Tubus Cosmo ( stainless steel version of the Cargo ).The
rack top is about 12" long but as Chris said there is a lower pannier
mounting rail wich moves the pannier back to about 14 1/2 " specially to
facilitate heel clearance.

Thanks for the reply. The Tubus logo looks like it will do the trick,
although it doesn't have a shelf on the top like my Bor Heuy rack....

However I have a bit of a cunning plan using parts of an old seatpost rack
to make a little pair of brackets to move the rack further than the frame
rack mounting points, hopefully by about an inch, which should hopefully be
enough to give me heel clearance. Basically make a pair of brackets with
holes which line up with the frame rack and mudguard eyelets, which then
extends out an inch or so.

My frame does have disc brake mounts front & rear so perhaps the Tubus
Adaptor may work.

Splutter! Just seen the price of the Tubus Logo rack......... Hopefully my
cunning plan will work...

Well, My cunning plan is taking shape!

Had a look through the toolbox and found a couple of right angle repair brackets.

The mudguard and pannier rack eyelets on my frame are at 45 degrees, and I found
that if I mounted the right angle repair bracket at 45 degrees, then I can bolt
through both the mudguard and pannier rack eyelets and get a nice 2 inch extension
from the rear mudguard eyelet.

Quickly attached the pannier rack and my Ortlieb Rear roller with a few fleeces
stuffed in, back peddeled and no heel strike!

Once I trim the brackets down and round off the edges with a file it shouldn't
look to bad.

Will upload a photo of the finished result!

Well, I managed to solve my heel clerance problem by modifing a pair of
right angle repair brakets:

Bracket is attached to rack + mudguard eyelet, and has the benefit of
lowering the rack by about half an inch, and moving it back 2 inches or
thereabouts so no problems with heel clearance.

Fitted the pannier and took it for a shakedown ride (literally) along a
bumpy coastal path.

The rack seems rigid enough using the right angle brakets, although it
is a bit wobbly at the front as I had to bolt the rack slider fixings
using only one bolt:

I'm sure I've seen 8" or longer rack slider fixings (I've currently got
6 inch sliders along with the struts fitted by the bike shop when they
initially fitted the rack), but I cannot seem to find the website again!

One other thing I found on my shakedown ride is that I'll need to pad
the rack frame a little as the Ortlieb pannier hooks are a little loose
fitting and are rattling.

Still at least I can now use my panniers (even although I did just stuff
them with a couple of fleeces for the shakedown ride). A lot more
comfortablt than a rucksack on the back!
