  1. About a month ago, 8+ years of benign neglect, including 8
years of winter commuting, finally caught up with my Trek
720 as the gear assembly on the back wheel showed its
mortality. So I've been walking/busing a lot more than
usual -- Yesterday I almost got clipped as a pedestrian
by a biker on the sidewalk who then almost got clipped
by a car turning right. (That was a thing of beauty).

ANYWAY, on my walk back from swimming at lunch, I decided
to check out the bike store that is 2 blocks from my office,
as they're having a Labor Day sale. Two minutes later,
I was riding a 25-inch Gary Fisher Zebrano, which is now
sitting with me in my office (I "accidentally" forgot my
    bike lock today 😉 ).

The best part was they gave me $50 for the old Trek, and
$50 for the old allycat (which I could not sell for $15
at my garage sale last weekend) from younger kid days.

    Gotta love a new bike!

Careful. Jobst will tell you to take this to rec.bicycles.new or something!
