I am thinking of converting my Bianchi Reparto Corse into a cross bike. Not planning on doing anything heavy duty, but want to have a bike to take on the local trails in the fall and winter. My question is, can I just simply throw some cyclocross tires on my Mavic Open Pro rims and be done with it? I appreciate any input.

Your issue will be clearance with anything over 28mm road tires, and some won't even handle that.

That was my concern exactly. Will have to head over to the LBS and hash it out. Obviously trying to make the conversion as cost effective as possible.
