conflicting info about Litespeed, Macalu, Douglas, Habanero, etc. I
am also open to opinions re the Best-Bang-forthe Buck titanium frames.
I got one from SevenCycles.
A relative who is into custom car and 4-wheeler fabrication zeroed in on the
Seven's welds and was impressed....he just went on-and-on about how great they
were and how hard it was to get something that perfect.
From my limited encounter, I'd say Seven's strength is their reluctance (for
whatever reason....) to alter a proven design. Basically, they fine-tuned
my non-standare bod into something (also non-standard...) that they knew would
work by altering saddle position and stem length.
Clearly this CB viewed as a weakness or a strength depending on one's
perspective/situation.
For me, it was a strength.
I didn't like it at first, but in the end they saved me from my own cockamine
notions.
Bang for the buck? If you're comparing two frames in which you know precisely
what you want dimension/angle-wise I'd venture that Seven isn't even in the
running.
OTOH, if I had gone for a Seven on day one, I would have avoided taking a bath
of X dollars on a Cannondale Jekyll that didn't even come close to fitting,
spending Y dollars on an Ellsworth ISIS that still didn't fit, and blowing Z
dollars on a custom hardtail that really, *really* didn't work out.
SevenCycles$ < (X$ + Y$ + Z$) ....by a substantial amount.
OTOH if my wife ever finds out I spent enough on a freaking *bicycle frame* to
feed an entire Somalian village for two months; I'm dead meat.
