[font=Times New Roman]My name is Jonathan Mejia and I’m going to ride my bicycle across America this summer to raise money ($) for a good non-profit called “Global Exchange”. Global Exchange is a human right organization that works for political, economic, environmental and social Justice around the globe.[/font]
[font=Times New Roman] The motto is “Building people -to- people ties”[/font]
[font=Times New Roman]My goal is to raise $1 for every mile ridden; 3,600 miles that is equivalent to $3600 USD total. I need your Help! I have to raise $3600 plus cost of the trip itself to make a difference for social change![/font]
[font=Times New Roman] I have been accepted as a rider in the 2005 Global Exchange/Bike-Aid, a 10 week summer bicycle trip across America from Seattle to Washington DC. The trip combines political Education & anti-Racism workshop, community living, physical challenge, service learning projects and fundraising for global and local concerns. Along the way 25 riders will be hearing lectures at churches, visiting community service center, farms and participating in projects that serve the communities we are visiting. Some Example include volunteering and doing service learning projects in ; “Food Not Bombs” for the homeless is Seattle, visiting the Northern Cheyenne Indian reservation in Montana to learn about their history and struggle to preserve their culture, Volunteering in the “Women’s Prison book projects” in Minneapolis, MN. After having the opportunity to see the country of the gross root lever we will meet and lobby with congress in Washington DC about what we have learned. The Entire trip is about learning by doing and Sharing.[/font]
