That was very interesting, Dimitri. Off to drink some Gatorade now, heh.

Oh! Good idea. I went to GNC to look for nutritional drink mixes and all they had, floor to
ceiling, was low carb stuff. Was it you who recommended stuff better than Boost or Ensure? If it
was, can I ask you to tell me again the brands?

    nancy

Sure! :-) EAS has a good line, as does Met-Rx and not all of those are Low Carb.....

With the current popularity of low carb diets, that was probably why that was all they were
stocking! Most GNC's will do special orders for the higher calorie products.

EAS also has a website for direct mail order.

Not necessarily -- that just means no pounding headache. I've woken up without a headache but unable

Alka seltzer. Followed by Gatorade as you can drink it. Actually if you take two asprin and drink
10oz Gatorade before bed, you won't hang.

Once you feel like eating, eat a big juicy cheese burger with fries. For me it's the Boca vegan
    original, but it still works.

And remember: Liquor on wine, feel just fine Wine after liquor - never been sicker.

A Bloody Mary can work wonders, as well. Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day, and take some
acetaminophen or ibuprofen to help with the aches and pains.

This is dangerous advice. Taking those pain relievers after a night of drinking can do serious
    damage to your kidneys.

For Ibuprofen, maybe. Acetaminophen affects the liver. So does Aspirin.

Drink plenty of water to dilute out the toxins. At least 4 pints.

    Quoted message said:

Your best bet is to take Vitamin B Complex with a tall glass of water prior to going to bed. You
    will awaken with minimal suffering.

Funny, I posted similar advice this morning. B-complex, or even just B-12 helps your liver to
    neutralize the "poisons".

You don't need low carb for what you are needing it for! Weight gainers would be better.

    Anytime... :-)

MRP's (meal replacement powders) have really advanced over the past few years... While I'd not
recommend them as a total diet, one or two shakes per day can really boost energy levels and
nutritional balance... especially in those compromised.

I'm not impressed with Boost or Ensure! Too high in simple sugars and not NEARLY high enough
    in protien!

Lynn, a close friend of mine, has very bad teeth and a LOT of stress! She's been getting downright
emaciated (and anorexic) lately, and is tired all the time. :-( Not good. She has a 2 year old and a
4 year old to keep up after, but complains she just has no appetite. <sigh>

I bought her a box of chocolate Met-Rx and told her to drink 1 or 2 packets per day with WHOLE milk
    as she needed the calories!

The difference in just a couple of days was miraculous!

I need to get her another box. :-)

Water. More water. Even more water. Which means you always keep a glass of water in addition to your
glass of wine/spirit, and you drink water (several glasses) before you go to bed, and you drink more
water than usual the following day. Hangovers are mostly by-products of dehydration.

I didn't drink that much and don't usually. It was a special occasion. The host served a different
wine with each course but I think what got me was the champagne ... then many glasses of excellent
red wine ... then a variety of schnapps that we just "had" to try because it is a specialty of the
town (he said it helps digestion -- yea right!).

Many thanks for all of your thoughtful advice. I can't get a decent burger here so I opted for
bouillon with a shot of Worcestershire sauce/Tabasco and then later on some scrambled eggs with
bread. Two aspirin, some alka-seltzer equivalent, vitamins C and B, lots of water. Still felt queasy
and tired until night but I suppose not as bad as I could have felt.

Coupled with one or two large glasses of water before going to bed.

  18. I can't see the original message, but if you eat a couple of activated charcoal pills with a
calcium/magnisium pill while you are drinking, you won't get a hangover. Drink lots of water too.

Orange Juice for its Vit C *plus* Eggs for (some form of, can't remember) cysteine are proven
    remedies.

Otherwise, champagne is the first thing that an upset stomach will tolerate and actually does
ameliorate many of the "run over by a truck" symptoms of a hangover.

Analgesics: APC's (of military fame) were perfect! All ingredients have now been blacklisted by
the pharmies who couldn't make any money from them, so if the pale substitutes work for you, it is
more good luck than good management.

A shot of tequila or vodka in some OJ with the rest of that would have helped if you were
    _that_ bad.

    Really. ;-)

Only problem is, if I over indulge to that point, the very thought of any more booze makes
    me gag. :-P

Glad you are feeling better. A hot bath and a good nights sleep to sleep it off.......

    Only 2 aspirin? Lightweight. <G>
