Yorkshire tour ride

I posted this on the Cycling+ website earlier:

Wow did they throw those hills in early or what!! No warm up at all. Managed
(thanks Granny) to do the 1 in 4 near the start (the one with the hairpin
just after ...we went across either a bridge or a reservoir).
Holme Moss was my first ever categorised hill of any sort. Geez. Got half
way up and then narrowly missed being trashed by a strong gust. Discretion
being the better part of valour, I walked the next quarter or so but with
Bro and sis-in-law at the top, had to get on again for last quarter. That
was sooo hard. It was comforting (to me at least) to see so many other
obviously good cyclist - which I am not - also walking.
How many copies of war and peace could have been read up Snake? It just
went on and on. Felt good when I'd cracked it tho'.
I ache in places I didn't know I had muscles but feel proud of myself for
completing it and NOT ending in the broom wagon. Chapeau to all those who
managed Holme Moss without getting off. You Iron men and women!
I know this has been asked before but is there anyone who did the Humdinger
who has either Mem Maps or Tracklogs who could do a decent profile of the
ride? I want to accost the milkman and postlady with it and show the family
just what it was like. The pathetic thing the organisers sent doesn't really
show it.
I was starting to loose the plot at the end tho' as I realised I has been
talking to myself for the past 20 minutes and was cursing inanimate objects
such as the poor quality of the Tar mac - which in places seemed to suck my
tyres. It was almost the last straw.Doing these kind of things on yer own is
not a good idea I now realise! Can someone - anyone PLEASE stoip me from
doing this next year! That wind on Holme Moss was - well you had to be there
to NOT appreciate it!

I'll email you the MMO, and also the picture of holme moss as taken
from the bus stop at the base.

Chapeau, on doing the ride with the wind which hit you on home moss
it was a great acheivement.

A most excellent ride. This part of England is fantastic, its either up or
down.
Punctured after Huddersfield, I was in a fast group and hit a small brick
which nearly had me off.
This caused a pinch puncture even though I run with 125psi.
Glad I had my triple chainset, the Holms Moss climb was one of the most
dangerous climbs I've done.
The wind coming off the top had me into the barriers on two occasions, I was
leaning the bike at 45 degrees just to keep it going in a straight line.
Snake Pass was much easier with a strong tail wind.
On the last climb before Sheffield I developed cramp in my right leg, so
slowed till it passed.
I'll look forward to next years.

Thanks for the link. I was er, very low down the rankings but do not care. I
am so chuffed to have done it. As sis-in-law said to me at top of Holme Moss
"You're no spring chicken anymore!" How true.
