Last year I noticed that my front wheel clicked as it turned. I took it
off the bike and put it in my wheel building stand. (big mistake there).
The click vanished. I put the wheel back on the bike and the click
reappeared.
So I took the wheel off the bike, replaced the bearings. At the same
time I replaced the front fork, and the click totally vanished.
Anyway in the last few weeks I noticed that the click has reappeared.
This time I put the bike in the work stand, and turned the wheel with
one click every turn. I was just about to get my tools out, and strip
the hub when I realised the click occurred just after the magnet for my
recently refitted computer passed the sensor.
I tested this my removing magnet and spinning the wheel, and passing the
unattached magnet close to the sensor.
So folks, the next time the odd noise gnome visits your front wheel,
check the computer magnet and sensor.
Martin.
