  1. Hey all-
A question regarding XT vs. XTR front derailleur interchangeability (with an XTR rear der.) I'm currently using an XT, and have been told by various bike shops and even Shimano techs both that I can exchange the two front derailleurs, and that I can't. Any experience with this?
    Thanks,
    jefe

  2. Mi jefe,
Yes you can, absolutely, not a problem. Fronts are sooooo much easier to deal with in terms of what works with what. You can use that XTR as long as it has the correct mounting ring size and the cable routing works you are cool.

    Mi amigo-
Muchas gracias por su ayuda. I figured this was the case, but wasn't sure why the Shimano folks would lead me astray...
    In any event, thanks much.
