    Ive recently got some new cranks for unicycle and bought some X-Lite
    crank bolts for my uni (off a friend), he rekons i should ride around
    for a few weeks to make sure the cranks are seated firmly, then replace
    the steel bolts with the aluminium ones.

    My question is, bearing in mind i will only be riding freestyle with
    this uni, do you think the bolts will be stong enough or do you think
    they'll sheer off???

    im worried about them sheering as i dont want them to get stuck in my
    hub.

    Also has anyone tried these bolts on a uni? and if so were they any
    good?

    1)use the steel bolts to install the cranks and then take them out.

    2) then put in the Aluminum bolts.

    that way the lighter bolts are not forcing the crank arms on...

    dont ever install cranks with Aluminum bolts...doesnt it say that on the
    package?

    i didnt, i installed the cranks very firmly with steel ones, and once
    ive riden for a few days/weeks and i know theyre not coming off ill
    change the bolts over,

    Given ultra lightweight bolts are famous for getting stuck/seized up, is
    it really worth it for 10g weight saving over steel bolts. You also lose
    the ability to fix it if your cranks do get loose ever, as you need to
    have the steel ones to put them tight again.

    This is why i asked the question in the first place, i didnt realise
    they were so prone to failure. Im not putting them on to save weight
    really, they just look really nice 🙄

    thanks for the advice joe, although my friend who rides fairly rough mtb
    has never had problems, this is one ill have to think long and hard
    about....

    if anyone else has any ideas or experience id still be greatfull to hear
    it, altough they're probably going back after what joe has said.
