    Hi:

I have a used Trek KDR 1000 that might fit your son. The Trek KDR
1000 was made for kids geometry in size 43cm with 650c wheels. I have
3 boys, and I bought 2 of these bikes. My oldest two boys have moved
up in size (50cm). My youngest boy age 9 is currently riding the
other bike that is not for sale yet. Depending on how big your son is
he might be able to ride the KDR 1000. He will need to be an
extremely big 8 yr old for a regular Trek 1000 43cm. The top tube is
much longer and the overall height of the top tube will be taller due
to the 700c wheels and much more difficult to hande. Felt bicycles
also makes a Kids roadbike if you want to look into it. I have not
seen any of those bikes sell on any of the major websites (ebay,
roadbike review, google, cycling forum) But I have seen the Trek KDR
1000 sell on ebay in the $400+ neighborhood.

I spent alot of time looking before I bought and this was the best
deal to get my kids into roadbiking. If you start to big it may
actually deter them instead of helping them feel comfortable and
secure on a bike they can handle. Just to give you an example we did
the 35 mile Ice Cream ride for the Good Samaritan Hospital in Rockland
County NY and my 9 yr old finished it with no problems.

If you are interested I will offer it to you for $400 + actual
shipping and insurance. The bike is about 2 yrs old and in good shape.
I will send pictures in a separate email, they are hi-resolution and
don't always email easily. If you are interested let me know or if you
have any questions. I will be away for the next week but I should be
able to get online a few times. My ebay ID is Chumpito if you want to
look at my feedback. I plan to put it on the major websites when I
    get back.

    Good Luck!
