Only problem is, how could you ever ride such a bike? I mean, what if you pranged it?

I am so totally in awe.

...and the cost? :)

180hrs metal work + painting + 40hrs further polishing.. wow!
I wouldn't be able to wheel it out the door - afraid of water,
dirt, cars, birds.. even fitting wheels etc would be a nerve-wracking
process!

I agree. Aside from ruining the pristine art, they're way too expensive
to risk on the road.

I love Darrell's lugged SS stems - real classy :)

Yes, but how could you NOT ride it? I'f I owned something like that I'd be
champing at the bit to just take it out and trundle. This is why I could
never own rare collectible cars (money not withstanding). I'd be forever
*driving* them (pause for horrified gasps from the concourse crowd). Bike
are the same; they're for riding. Carefully in some cases, granted.

Yeah. You have to ride them. But not in the wet.

I sometimes see a Lynx D-Type (Jaguar D-Type replica, but rarer -
about 40 ever made) driving round the Burnley Blvd. You have to drive
them.

When I was at school, the guy who lived across the lane from my
boarding house had two Bugatti Type 35s. There's one for sale at the
moment for 1 million Euros. About $2 million. This guy used to race
them in hill climbs and classic car races.

So what's the drama about riding a $10,000 frame? They are built to be
ridden, not hung on the wall like art. Even if they are stunningingly
beautiful.

Bug35 owners seem to be like that. Even now, there seem to be a lot of them
participating in historic racing and suchlike.
