Here's my favourite turbo training session to keep me ticking over during the winter when the weather is upsetting. Post your own below and we'll have a collection of varied workouts!
1. warm up spinning easy, i then mobilise my back cos i've hurt it in the past when making hard efforts and not preparing it.
2. First section is intervals to increase heart rate, leg cadence and i feel after a few weeks of these i am closer to race condtion:
a 2 mins bigger resistance (something like 53x16) about 60-70 rpm
b 1 min same gear but flat out cadence, everything i've got for a full 1 minute
c spin easy for 1 minute
I repeat this as many times as i can untill i can no longer hold same high cadence.
3. Steady state intervals in a resistance just above the comfort zone and try to hold a rpm of over 90 for a full 20 mins, it ends up harder to concentrate your mind on keeping going fast rather than the physical effort in the legs.
Hope this is useful to someone
