I flew back to Europe in January of 1970 to visit with a girlfriend, who
worked in Frankfurt, Germany. After spending time together in Franfurt,
we decieded to visit her parents who lived in Winterspect, Holland. I
liked Holland, lots of bicycles everywhere! I remember going out to
dinner with her and her two sisters one evening. When we were ready to
go out, I asked, "should I call for a taxi?" My offer was greeted with
light laughter. "No one drives, or rides in a car in this town, only if
the weather is bad," I was told. "So what then?" We ride bicycles! So
my girlfriend and one of her sisters went behind the house, and came
back around with three, what turned out to be 3-speed bikes, that were
equipped with fenders, and lights. So off we all went, me and three
very beautiful girls for a date on the town..... on bikes! We had
dinner, drank, sang, danced and just had so much fun that night. We
were all just a little tipsy too, but that made the ride back to the
house that much more fun.
Anyone else have a similar story of going out on a date on a bicycle,
that you'd might care to share?
