Winter tyres

Don't look at me - the Speedmachine won't swallow owt much bigger than an
S-Lick when it's got a front mudguard on. Personally I e'nt bothered chaing
the tyres for winter for a couple of years, coz it didn't seem to have much
effect on the habits of the P+nct+r+ Fairy...

Relative to what?
We swapped the Stelvios for Marathons on the Fiero for the Tour du Nord
and Roos wasn't up in arms about them, though we did swap them back on
return. Whether this was about rolling resistance so much as the
fetching blue Go Faster Stripe I'm not sure! ;-)

I use them the whole time, both on the Streetmachine and the Brom, but
OTOH I'm almost certainly rather trundlier about the place than you
are... They do 100 psi so they aren't exactly going to suck all the
life out of your bike (don't forget they're a bit wider than the
Stelvios to make up for the lower pressure), at any rate. If you hate
'em I could probably be persuaded we could use a couple of spares.

The Street Machine came fitted with Marathons. I've never found a
better tyre. It will still, of course, pick up the occasional puncture
during November and March (I had one yesterday, in fact).

FWIW, I used Stelvios this summer and they were *not* noticeably faster
than the Marathons.
