Yes, very windy up on the South Downs today, although thankfully the rain
never appeared. However, plenty of rain must have fallen during the night
as underfoot was pretty horrible at times. So, where did I venture this
weekend!
Started out from Eartham Wood car park (a few miles northeast of Chichester,
West Sussex) just before 0730 and head over through Selhurst park and down
to East Dean. Saw three sets of deer on the way, so I was happy with that
...... always keep a keen eye for them. Headed north through Lamb Lea and
joined the South Downs Way near Graffham Down. Continued east along to
Duncton Down, then skirted north around Barlavingtom Down and south back to
the South Downs Way at the Bignor Hill car park. Followed paths and farm
tracks south to Slindon Village, then west up to Eartham Village, eventually
joining the Roman road Stane Street at the A285. A short walk along the
Roman road brought me back to the car park.
Cracking 17.2 mile hike over the rolling South Downs. Slideshow from along
