If they manage to make it happen (Tour of Willamette vets will chuckle
now), be prepared for 68 degrees C and sunny... or 40 degrees C in
pouring rain... or both... disoriented corner marshals... migrating
finish lines... Beautiful countryside, though...

The volunteers and officials put in a great effort, usually. One year,
they were up at night shoveling snow to clear the road for the next
day's stage. But the ToW was a hard race to put on for a non-pro
organisation. Five days for the Pro/1/2 & women... small roads on BLM
lands in the outback... the whole magilla coming together at the last
minute... I've seen St. Candy looking pretty frazzled on occasion.
