Hello all
I think I killed my trike today. I went out for a ride on my
96 Trice and after about 30 miles or so I took a nasty
spill. I'm not exactly sure what happened but I know I ended
up getting thrown out of it and now have a fist size bruise
on my leg.
I picked myself up and righted the trike - then the real
pain kicked
in. One of the front wheels has cracked the hub. This is on
the outboard side, the bit that holds the spokes in.
About a quarter of it has came away. Also the breaking
lever (hub brakes) is loose. It still brakes but only
after it has span round a little.
I haven't had this thing long and I am still paying for it
so am desperately hoping this can be repaired without a new
hub. Things that sprang to mind are.
Epoxy it back together - would that hold. Have it welded
back - hopefully not to expensive if I can find someone who
can do it New hub - worst case.
I hope a repair will be possible because I had to ride it
home like this and it didn't object too much so hopefully
there is not too much force on it.
If it did come down to a new hub (I feel confident enough to
re-build a wheel if it comes down to it) any ideas how much
one will cost in the UK and where would be a good place to
get one from?
If the repair option works next thing is this lose break
lever (on the hub, not the handlebar). Can anyone recommend
a site with instructions on servicing hub brakes?
Thanks in advance for any help.
