Believe me, if you're from a southern Italian city, cycling in London is
definitely a relaxing experience 🙂

I found riding in Torino to be quite interesting. The traffic really
wasn't used to a London-style vehicular cyclist, and I wasn't used to
Italian style advisory traffic lights (though by all accounts they seem
to have now made it to London).

I therefore have a bit of a problem comprehending people talking about
the 'heavy traffic' in Dundee, except when I am riding with my daughter
(8).

Nah. Italian drivers look where they're going. And use available space
- all of it. Parking is chaotic, and the road surfaces are dire, but
the actual driving isn't so bad to deal with.

The reason we have lower death rates here is that we have a great
deal more space on all our roads, which gives everyone a much better
chance to escape when someone does something stupid.

( /me lived in the Rome area from 1992-98. The roads were scary at
first - mostly as a pedestrian, but I got used to that. The
pollution was much worse, and I never got used to *that*. Oh, and
cycling in Italy's southernmost city whilst on hols was a happy
experience).
